Habitat for Humanity gets a 'lift' from Budget Trucks
Two Habitat for Humanity branded ‘charity trucks’ will hit the streets as a part of the Budget fleet for the next 5 years.
The 'bill-board’ size branded canvases on each side of the trucks will raise community awareness of Habitat for Humanity's mission to help low income families achieve home ownership.
It’s part of a charitable initiative by major Budget Franchisee owner and philanthropist Paul Wheelton. Having worked in the Budget business for over 40 years, Paul has made it his mission to use both the financial resources and physical assets of his company to give back to a community that has ‘given him so much’.
The trucks will play a major part in the Habitat for Humanity’ ReStore operation which helps to support the affordable home building program. Habitat for Humanity will be handing over another affordable home to a new Partner family before Easter and plans to finish 2 more houses in the Yea Heights Estate Development before mid 2018.
Budget began partnering with Habitat for Humanity three years ago, providing trucks to assist the ReStore operation. ReStore is Habitat for Humanity’s social enterprise store, selling second hand goods to the public. Funds raised through ReStore go to support building another Habitat for Humanity home for a low income family in need of affordable housing.
Philip Curtis, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Victoria, says the trucks will make a tangible difference to the Habitat for Humanity operation.
“The Budget trucks will make a substantial contribution to awareness of what we are doing in an area where there is real need within our community. We hope the “mobile signage” will stimulate people to donate suitable items for resale and reuse in ReStore and help us to help another family into home ownership. Having a place to call home is vital to building strong, self sufficient and resilient families and communities. We value the partnership with Paul and Budget as we seek to grow our programs.” he said.
